First news of the Wii were released in 2004 when nintendo spoke about it at the E3 press conference, unveiling wasnt until a year later in 2005. A prototype came out in late 2005 at the Tokyo Game Show by Satoru Iwata. Awards were given out in 2006 for the Nintendo Wii and by September 2006 it had launched in 4 markets! Not bad going for a seventh generation console.. It's been generating the most ever sales of a console for its generation according to reports.
Some of the Wii's key features are the wireless remote (called the Wii Remote) which is really quite smart, detecting movement in three dimensions!
